You know you’ve gained a few Thanksgiving dinner pounds when you search for a bigger belt at the Black Friday sales. Now it’s time to take off the lumps before holiday treats start showing up at the office. There’s a fun way to do it right in the heart DC. It’s the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden Ice Rink on the National Mall. This is a great place for a date or a family outing. There’s a café next to the rink so you can get a cup of hot chocolate to warm up your hands.
Don’t know how to skate? Take some group or private lessons for any age. Need an adrenaline rush? Sign up with a hockey instructor.
The prices are so reasonable, you can go all throughout the winter and not break your budget. Adults are $11 (including skate rental) and kids, students, and seniors (at a very generous 50 age limit) are $10 for a 2 hour session. You can even get a season pass for $195. Sessions begin on the hour. Lockers are available for only fifty cents.
Ice Rink Hours
Monday–Thursday, 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
Friday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m.
Sunday, 11:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m.
The ice rink will be open until March 16, 2015. Happy skating.
